Lake Worth Beach, Florida
Older-home bathroom remodels done right, from a licensed contractor · CBC1269429
Lake Worth Beach is full of character: cottages, bungalows and mid-century homes on small lots, many of them decades old. That character comes with old plumbing, uneven floors and walls that weren't built for today's showers. We plan for what's behind the tile before we price the job, so the surprises show up in the estimate instead of halfway through demolition.

Lake Worth Beach has six local historic districts: College Park, Old Lucerne, Old Town Commercial, Northeast Lucerne, Southeast Lucerne and South Palm Park. Historic review is about what the street sees, like windows, doors and exterior walls. An interior bathroom remodel usually needs only a standard building permit. If your plan adds or resizes a bathroom window, we'll check with the city first.
Florida HB 803 took effect July 1, 2026. It lets single-family owners skip a building permit for some work valued under $7,500, but it does not cover plumbing, electrical, structural, mechanical or gas work, it does not apply in flood hazard areas, and a project cannot be split up to stay under the limit. A real remodel moves drains, valves or wiring, so plan on a permit. We file it and close it out.
In older homes we regularly find cast iron drain lines that have scaled or cracked, galvanized supply pipe, and subfloor soft from years of slow leaks around the tub. We open the floor, show you what we find and replace what's failing while the room is open, which costs far less than coming back later.
Many Lake Worth Beach bathrooms are compact. A curbless shower with a single glass panel, a wall-hung vanity and a recessed niche can make a 5-by-8 bath feel twice its size. See our bathroom remodel timeline guide for what to expect.

Usually yes, with a standard building permit. Historic review focuses on exterior changes like windows, doors and walls. If your plan changes a bathroom window, we confirm requirements with the city first.
Most often cast iron or galvanized pipe at the end of its life, soft or rotted subfloor around the tub, and walls that are out of plumb. We price the likely fixes up front and show you what we find.
Most of our bathroom projects run $6,500 to $14,000 for a powder room, $19,500 to $39,500 for a guest bath with a tub-to-shower conversion, $23,000 to $45,000 for a primary bath, and $49,500 to $99,000+ for a luxury primary suite. A recent full-gut bathroom we finished in Delray Beach came in at $20,000.
No. Florida HB 803, effective July 1, 2026, exempts some single-family work valued under $7,500 from a building permit, but it does not cover plumbing, electrical, structural, mechanical or gas work, and it does not apply in flood hazard areas. A real bathroom remodel moves drains, valves or wiring, so it still needs a permit.
Yes. We add blocking for grab bars during framing, build curbless or low-threshold showers, add benches and handheld wands, and widen doorways where the wall allows. See aging-in-place remodeling.
