Two Jupiter Farms bathrooms, taken back to the studs

Our most recent north county project was a whole-home renovation in Jupiter Farms. It included two complete bathroom remodels, a navy shaker kitchen and new flooring throughout.

  • Primary bathroom: a frameless glass walk-in shower with a built-in bench and niche, two black rain heads with two handheld wands, a pebble shower floor, marble-look porcelain walls, and a gray shaker double vanity with a white top, matte black faucets and backlit mirrors.
  • Guest bathroom: a tub and shower combination with marble-look tile, a tiled niche and a sliding glass door.

What a Jupiter bathroom remodel actually involves

Town of Jupiter or Palm Beach County?

A Jupiter mailing address doesn't always mean the Town of Jupiter issues your permit. Jupiter Farms is unincorporated Palm Beach County, so permits there go through the county's Planning, Zoning and Building department. Homes inside town limits are permitted by the Town of Jupiter. We confirm which one applies to your property before we set a schedule.

The new $7,500 permit exemption rarely applies

Florida HB 803 took effect July 1, 2026. It lets single-family owners skip a building permit for some work valued under $7,500, but it does not cover plumbing, electrical, structural, mechanical or gas work, it does not apply in flood hazard areas, and a project cannot be split up to stay under the limit. A real remodel moves drains, valves or wiring, so plan on a permit. We file it and close it out.

Jupiter Farms homes and well and septic

Many Jupiter Farms properties are on larger lots, and some are on well water and septic. That affects fixture choices, water treatment and how we plan drain work, so we look at it on the first visit. Hard or iron-rich well water can also stain grout and glass, so we recommend sealed porcelain and easy-clean glass coatings.

Coastal homes and condos

Closer to the water, condo associations and HOAs add approval steps, and some coastal addresses sit in flood zones, where the $7,500 permit exemption does not apply at all.

How a remodel runs, start to finish

  1. Home visit and measurement. Colby walks the bathroom, checks the subfloor, plumbing and venting, and listens to how you use the room.
  2. Local rules check. We confirm what Jupiter and your HOA or condo association require before anything is designed.
  3. Written scope and fixed estimate. Every line item, finish allowance and exclusion in writing, so the price does not drift.
  4. Selections. Tile, porcelain, vanity, quartz, fixtures, glass and lighting, chosen together with samples.
  5. Permits and approvals. We file the building permit and assemble any association packet with insurance certificates.
  6. Protected demolition. Floors and halls covered, dust contained, debris hauled the same day.
  7. Rough-in, waterproofing and inspections. New drains and valves, a fully waterproofed shower system, then inspections before tile goes up.
  8. Tile, glass, finish and final walkthrough. We punch-list the room with you and close the permit.

Jupiter bathroom remodeling questions

Who issues permits for a Jupiter Farms bathroom remodel?

Jupiter Farms is unincorporated Palm Beach County, so the county's Planning, Zoning and Building department issues the permit. Homes inside Town of Jupiter limits are permitted by the town.

What was included in your Jupiter Farms bathroom remodels?

The primary bath got a frameless glass walk-in shower with a bench, dual rain heads and wands, a pebble floor and a gray shaker double vanity. The guest bath got a tub and shower with marble-look tile, a niche and a sliding glass door. Both were part of a whole-home renovation that typically falls in the $115,000 to $150,000 range for that scope.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost?

Most of our bathroom projects run $6,500 to $14,000 for a powder room, $19,500 to $39,500 for a guest bath with a tub-to-shower conversion, $23,000 to $45,000 for a primary bath, and $49,500 to $99,000+ for a luxury primary suite. A recent full-gut bathroom we finished in Delray Beach came in at $20,000.

Did Florida's new law remove the permit requirement for bathrooms?

No. Florida HB 803, effective July 1, 2026, exempts some single-family work valued under $7,500 from a building permit, but it does not cover plumbing, electrical, structural, mechanical or gas work, and it does not apply in flood hazard areas. A real bathroom remodel moves drains, valves or wiring, so it still needs a permit.

Can you design a bathroom for aging in place?

Yes. We add blocking for grab bars during framing, build curbless or low-threshold showers, add benches and handheld wands, and widen doorways where the wall allows. See aging-in-place remodeling.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Colby Matheny holds Florida Certified Building Contractor license CBC1269429, and we provide insurance certificates to condo associations and HOAs on request.
